On the Eve of the Election: Trump's Approval Rating Has Plummeted to a Record Low, and Democrats Are Ahead of Republicans
On Tuesday, November 3, midterm elections will be held in the United States. Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to a record low of 31 percent.
This is the worst result of the politician’s two terms in office. The relevant data from the opinion poll was released by Reuters.
What are the poll results?
Compared to a poll conducted two weeks ago, the U.S. president’s approval rating has dropped by another percentage point. Donald Trump’s approval rating on the eve of the midterm elections stands at 31%. For Republicans, losing control of either chamber could complicate the U.S. president’s agenda during the final two years of his term.
Overall, 47% of voters surveyed are ready to vote for Democrats, while only 35% support Republicans. The Democrats’ 12-point lead is the largest of the current election cycle.

The main factor behind the decline in voter support was the financial turmoil caused by the U.S. and Israel’s war with Iran. The conflict in the Middle East has led to a sharp rise in gas prices at the pump.
68% of those surveyed disapprove of the White House’s economic policies (including 37% of those who identify as Republicans), and 40% of respondents said Democrats are better at managing the economy than Republicans.
Support for the Republican Party has declined particularly sharply among women. About 50% of American women said they would vote for the Democratic Party, while only 32% prefer its opponents. Among male voters, the Democrats also maintain a lead, though by a slightly narrower margin.
The online survey included 1,679 American adults, 1,279 of whom were registered voters. The margin of error was 2% for all respondents and 3% for registered voters.
Ivan Us, chief consultant at the National Institute for Strategic Studies on Channel 24, said that Donald Trump is acting amid growing panic over the risk of losing control of Congress and the real threat of a third impeachment. According to the expert, the U.S. president’s chaotic moves in favor of the Kremlin are already provoking resistance even among Republicans.
