The US is offering up to $20 million for information on Iran's nuclear program

The United States has announced a reward of up to $20 million for information on Iran's nuclear program. Informants are also being offered "possible resettlement" in exchange for information on facilities, equipment, and scientific personnel.

Western media outlets are reporting this, citing the U.S. State Department.

Reward for Information

It is reported that payments will be made through the State Department’s “Rewards for Justice” program. This initiative was launched back in 1984 to protect the lives and interests of Americans through monetary incentives.

The department noted that Tehran has systematically failed to fulfill its safeguards obligations to the IAEA. As a result, the agency has lost its “continuity of knowledge” regarding Iran’s production and stockpiles of key components, such as centrifuges.

At this time, the U.S. side has not disclosed the exact criteria for the data for which payments are to be made.

Negotiations on the agreement amid military tensions

Trump has repeatedly claimed that U.S. forces have effectively destroyed Iran’s nuclear program. At the same time, he emphasized that Iran’s economy and military have suffered significant losses during eight months of tensions, which is why the country is seeking to end the conflict.

“We are currently negotiating with them. They really want to reach an agreement,”
the U.S. president is quoted as saying.

International mediators continue their efforts to prevent a new round of hostilities.

As a reminder, Washington has warned a number of Arab countries in the Persian Gulf to prepare for a possible short- a military campaign against Iran following the U.S. congressional elections.
