Gennadiy Trukhanov

Gennadiy Trukhanov was mayor of Odesa from 2014 to 2025, known for his pro-Russian views. Former member of the "Party of Regions". 

Gennadiy Trukhanov was suspected of holding Russian citizenship, as well as of embezzling state funds.

On October 14, 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stripped Trukhanov of Ukrainian citizenship following an SBU report that the politician held a Russian passport. 

Since October 16, the duties of the mayor of Odesa have been performed by the secretary of the city council, Ihor Koval.

On October 28, 2025, Gennadiy Trukhanov was served a notice of suspicion of official negligence for failing to take measures during severe weather that led to the deaths of at least 10 people.
