Jens Stoltenberg

Jens Stoltenberg – a Norwegian politician, NATO Secretary General since 2014, will remain in office until October 1, 2024. He was born on March 16, 1959, in Oslo, into a political family well known in Norway.

Jens Stoltenberg has been in politics for a long time. He began his career as a journalist and for a long time was a supporter of the Norwegian left and an opponent of NATO. During his career he served as Minister of Trade and Energy and as Minister of Finance. He twice headed the government of Norway.

At NATO, Stoltenberg has gone through many crises and rallied the bloc's members in support of Ukraine. Stoltenberg's contribution to building up NATO and countering the aggressor in the person of Russia can hardly be overestimated. The Alliance's Secretary General has proven himself a skillful diplomat and manager, a tough negotiator and a consistent supporter of Ukraine and its Euro-Atlantic integration.

Jens Stoltenberg is married and has two adult children – son Axel and daughter Catharina.
