The Need for Pentagon Decisions on Patriot Missiles

Ukrainian leadership stresses that international partners must recognize the consequences of the systematic shelling of Ukrainian cities. The United States plays a key role in ensuring air defense, as decisions regarding the provision of defense packages are currently being made there.

It is important for the world to see this. For our partners in the United States – on whom almost everything regarding the “Patriots” depends – to see this. So that there are responses and so that there are appropriate authorizations from the Pentagon for the supply of “Patriots,”– the head of state stated.

The President noted that due to the delayed air defense packages, it is becoming significantly more difficult to defend against Russian ballistic missiles. The shortage of ammunition directly affects Ukraine’s diplomatic resilience during the war.

The Diplomatic Track and the Situation on the Front Lines

In addition to coordinating actions with the U.S., dialogue with European leaders is ongoing; in particular, talks have been held with the leadership of Norway and Finland. A round of negotiations involving representatives from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia – with mandatory European participation – is expected in November.

Despite air pressure, the Ukrainian military is holding back the enemy on the front lines and carrying out successful counterattacks. In particular, the “Khartia” unit carried out Operation Veles in the Kupiansk sector, blocking Russian attempts to advance through underground tunnels.

As previously reported on our website, during operations by the Airborne Assault Forces and Operation “Vivaldi” in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian defenders have liberated hundreds of square kilometers of territory.
