Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician, US Army veteran and former congresswoman from Hawaii. She became the first Hindu in the US Congress and was one of the Democratic Party's presidential candidates in the 2020 election.

Gabbard is known for her meetings with Bashar al-Assad and her statements about US policy toward Ukraine, including claims about the existence of biolabs in Ukraine.

On February 12, 2025, the US Senate confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence.

Tulsi Gabbard resigned from her post on May 22, 2026. She said she had to leave public service to be with her husband, who had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.

It is known that Gabbard disagreed with Trump's position on starting a war in Iran. According to her, Tehran is not building nuclear weapons, and Ali Khamenei did not allow the nuclear program suspended in 2003 to be implemented. Trump, in turn, said the US Director of National Intelligence was "mistaken".

Trump said Tulsi Gabbard's resignation would take effect on June 30, 2026.
