Will there be talks between Ukraine and the U.S.?
Initially, Kyiv proposed holding talks in Brussels, where a European Council meeting is scheduled for the coming days. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is likely to be present there.
Ukrainian negotiators are now inviting Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to come to Brussels or another city to hold a new round of talks with them,
sources reported.
However, according to their information, the U.S. side has not expressed a desire to hold the meeting in the Belgian capital. In light of this, the negotiators are exploring options for other cities to host the meeting.
As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha urged not to jump to conclusions regarding relations with the U.S. According to him, the same restrained approach will work this time as Ukraine’s restrained stance did after relations deteriorated in 2025.
Incidentally, Donald Trump’s envoys acknowledged that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin shows no willingness to negotiate an end to the war. A Reuters source reported that Russia is prepared to agree to return to negotiations only on the condition that it gains control over the remaining 11% of the Donbas territory.
