Victoria Spartz

Victoria Spartz is a native of Ukraine who became a well-known American political figure. She was born in Ukraine in Chernihiv Oblast but emigrated to the US, where she married well and later became a Republican congresswoman, winning 51.7% of the vote in the 2020 election to the US House of Representatives. 

Spartz actively supports Donald Trump's policies and is known for her scandalous and harmful statements about Ukraine. In particular, in an interview she called on Ukrainians to give up their territories. Scandals related to her position on Ukraine also include calls for the resignation of the head of the Office of the President, Yermak.

Her rhetoric very often echoes and plays into the hands of Russian propaganda, blaming the Ukrainian authorities. In addition, Spartz voted against military aid to Ukraine in 2024, citing domestic US problems, although she had earlier called the Russian invasion "genocide". 

Her statements, in particular that Ukraine is losing because of corruption and the inefficiency of Zelenskyy's government, sparked a wave of outrage both in Ukraine and among Ukrainian Americans.
