With these words, Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the European Council on October 16. He raised the issue of the depletion of weapons stocks needed to defend the airspace.

The Ammunition Shortage and the Role of European Resolve

The President of Ukraine emphasized the need to allocate the resources available in European arsenals to defend the civilian population.

Of course, we are grateful to all of you, but I think you need to understand this. Therefore, please let what European countries already have be used to protect our lives,
– Zelenskyy emphasized

During his speech, the head of state expressed gratitude to European Union leaders for their continued support. He noted that it was precisely the unity of European countries that became a key factor in deterring Russian aggression.

The European Union did not fall apart. It did not back down or give in to fear when it came to defending the European way of life. And this was no less important than the courage of the Ukrainian people,
Zelenskyy said.

He also emphasized that “if it weren’t for the resolute EU, Putin would have already gone much further.”

As a reminder, the Ukrainian leader had previously pointed out a significant shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems. At that time, he emphasized that Ukraine is not yet a top priority in their supply, as most of the ammunition is being redirected to the Middle East.
