Kamala Harris is the 59-year-old Vice President of the United States and the Democratic candidate in the US presidential election. She lost the election to Republican Donald Trump.
Harris began her career as a deputy district attorney, specializing in cases of sexual abuse of children, as well as murder and robbery cases. In 2004, she became the first woman to serve as District Attorney of San Francisco, and six years later, Attorney General of California. In 2016, Harris became a senator from California.
In January 2019, Harris launched a presidential campaign for the Democratic Party, but later withdrew from the race, citing a lack of funds. Joe Biden won that election and made Harris Vice President.
In 2014, when Russia occupied Ukrainian Crimea, Kamala Harris condemned Russia's aggression. She has also made other sharp statements against Russia and its aggressive war against Ukraine.
