Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is the current President of Russia, who has held this post for a total of 18 years. Since 2012, he has been the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Who is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin
Born in 1952 in Leningrad. Age – 69. The oldest President of Russia was Boris Yeltsin, who brought the current president to power, and the youngest was Dmitry Medvedev, Vladimir Putin's henchman and a member of the pro-Putin government.
He received a law degree from the Zhdanov Leningrad University. As a student, he joined the Communist Party. To this day, Putin has not officially left this party.
Towards the end of his studies, he became a KGB officer – he was recruited for "freelance work". Until the 1990s, he worked and trained in various KGB branches in Russia and Germany.
In 1998, he became Director of the FSB of Russia, and in 1999 he took up another post – Secretary of the Security Council of Russia.
In 1999, after Yeltsin announced his resignation, Putin became his successor – not as a result of elections, unconstitutionally and without any right. In fact, by 2000 Putin had received Russia by direct inheritance.
In 2000, he became the elected president. In 2004, Putin was re-elected. After four years of Dmitry Medvedev's rule, Putin ran for president again. It was allegedly Medvedev who proposed that he take up this post again. In 2012, with staggering figures, Putin became president for the third time.
Can Vladimir Putin be president for so long?
At the suggestion of State Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova, the law was changed so that Putin can be re-elected 2 more times – in 2024 and in 2030.
Vladimir Putin sharply extended his terms of office – if he is elected yet again in the presidential elections, he will be able to rule for more than 30 years in total.
Vladimir Putin and his anti-Ukrainianism
Throughout his terms, the Russian president has repeatedly declared his anti-Ukrainian position. A few months before the occupation of Crimea and Donbas, serious pro-Russian propaganda began, claiming that Ukraine was allegedly part of Russia. Now, after 8 years of war in Donbas, Putin still adheres to his insane views – on February 21, 2022, he stated:
- Ukraine was allegedly created by Russia,
- Crimea is Russian,
- The territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied by militants are pseudo-republics that will become part of Russia.
Vladimir Putin is the person who unleashed the war in eastern Ukraine and has continued to destroy Ukrainians for 8 years in a row. Europe has stated that Russia is preparing for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine's territory – allegedly to settle the conflict and protect residents of the pseudo-republics from "Ukrainian attackers".
The Ukrainian authorities have appealed to the UN, NATO and the EU regarding Russian aggression. But Putin continues to push his line, claiming that the aggressors on the border are Ukrainians.
All that Ukrainians can do now is not trust pro-Russian propaganda, not panic and support the Ukrainian army, which is defending all of Ukraine and Europe from the invader.
