It is extremely encouraging that Norway and Finland have begun to play a much more active role in resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine. However, in order to truly influence the negotiations, all of Europe needs to be deeply involved in this process.
Gleb Ostapenko, a political consultant and foreign policy expert, spoke about this on 24 Channel. According to him, Europe will not be able to establish a fully-fledged, strong diplomatic position unless it becomes involved in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

What does Europe need to do?
As Ostapenko emphasized, no one is suggesting that European troops should fight directly in the Donbas. However, to have a strong negotiating position, they need a military component.
If Europeans want to be true allies, they must at least set a precedent that either military advisers or a military contingent of 8,000 to 12,000 troops will be deployed to Ukraine as part of a training mission
There are several scenarios for where such units could be deployed. This could include the Lviv, Zhytomyr, or Rivne regions to secure the border with Belarus. This would free up border guard units to participate in combat operations. Alternatively, if Europe demonstrates political will, they could very well deploy troops to the Kyiv, Poltava, or Odesa regions.

We should add that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is currently considering three options for security guarantees. Most of these formats require the involvement of European allies in particular.
