Russian dictator Vladimir Putin recently held talks with the leaders of Norway and Finland. Russia will now work to undermine European unity in support of Ukraine.

Oleksiy Buryachenko, president of the International Institute for Security Studies, spoke about this on 24 Channel. According to him, until recently, Russia had not even considered involving Europeans in the peace talks. Now, however, there is even talk there that Europe’s voice should be heard.

What is Putin trying to achieve?

As Buryachenko emphasized, not everyone in Europe reacted positively to the talks between the leaders of Norway and Finland and dictator Putin. For example, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that their conversation had not been coordinated with other European partners.

And Russian dictator Putin is precisely seeking to undermine European unity. He began to build closer ties with the countries of Northern Europe precisely because they continue to provide significant assistance to Ukraine.

The Russians’ “divide and conquer” strategy is being implemented in a completely systematic and predictable manner. Why are the Nordic countries so important to Russia? Because these countries provide significant financial and political support to Ukraine, and the Russians need to undermine that support– Buryachenko emphasized.

Earlier, Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that the phone call was arranged in close coordination with the Ukrainian side. Both leaders also assured that direct contact with Moscow does not indicate a rift in Europe, but is intended to protect their own borders and security.
