Maksym Dzhygun, a political analyst and partner at the communications agency Good Politics, spoke about this on Channel 24. According to him, there was a telling incident recently when U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed that problems with the transmission of intelligence data regarding ballistic missile strikes were caused by a technical glitch. Although it is clear that this is a deliberate pressure tactic on the part of the White House.

Much depends on the congressional elections

As Dzhygun emphasized, the Trump administration has so far failed to justify why halting the transfer of intelligence data to Ukraine is in the interests of the United States.

Today, Rubio says it was a temporary measure. In their pressure campaign against Ukraine, they are forced to take into account that the American public deeply disapproves of the games with people’s lives that politicians there are playing. “I think all the other tools they wanted to use to pressure Ukraine will not necessarily be successful due to public pressure,”
– Dzhygun noted.

It is quite likely that it will become more difficult for Trump to pressure Ukraine after the congressional elections. This will happen if the Democrats win a majority. Currently, there are favorable predictions regarding the House of Representatives. The Democrats also have a chance of winning a majority in the Senate.

The Americans have not been able to influence us on such a global scale in the past to the point where we would accept Russia’s terms. Therefore, I doubt that Trump currently has enough leverage to do so immediately,
– Dzhygun noted.

This also applies to holding elections in Ukraine, as Trump recently mentioned. The majority of the public supports holding elections, but not at a time when the state’s very existence is under threat.

We should add that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently stated that Trump is essentially forcing Ukraine to capitulate. This is evidenced by the latest unfriendly moves on the part of the U.S. Among them is the deliberate restriction of the Starlink internet service, which is used by the Ukrainian military.
