How Trump Is Reacting to the Democrats’ Victory

The U.S. president noted that representatives of the Democratic Party ran an effective election campaign and achieved significant successes during the fierce race for office.

“The Democrats did a good job. They fought hard… I don't see this as a blow to myself. These were the best two years in the history of the presidency,”Trump emphasized during his conversation with journalists.

At the same time, a number of candidates who had directly counted on Trump’s public support suffered defeats at the polls, according to the Associated Press. Defeats occurred even in regions where a solid electoral advantage had previously been recorded.

Despite these results, Trump placed the blame for the losses squarely on the candidates themselves and their campaigns, refusing to acknowledge any missteps in his own political strategy.

Meanwhile, he has already threatened to veto the Democrats' initiatives. In his view, the Democrats will cave under his pressure; after a few months of vetoes, they will call and say, “How can we work this out?”
