On October 25, American businessman Elon Musk warned against using the Starlink satellite network in offensive military operations. In his view, such strikes make civilian satellites targets for Russia and could lead to their destruction.

Such actions could be harmful to space. The founder of SpaceX wrote about this on the social media platform X.

What did Musk say?

The American billionaire responded to a post about the possible destruction of satellites in space by Russia. He agreed that there is a risk of creating a massive cloud of debris that could render space unusable for decades.

According to Musk, Starlink can be used to support military infrastructure, but not to carry out offensive strikes. He emphasized that this is one of the main reasons why the satellite network must have civilian status. The businessman is convinced that attacks using the terminals make them an obvious target for a retaliatory strike by Russia.

The destruction of Starlink satellites by the enemy would cause a domino effect of destruction, creating a massive field of debris and rendering space unusablethe SpaceX CEO wrote.

The day before, the company’s founder claimed that the Ukrainian military had allegedly violated the terms of service. Allegedly, it was after this that SpaceX restricted the use of Starlink for offensive drone attacks.
