The "Zoomers" movement has announced demonstrations in 34 German cities. Young people will demand increased spending on education, a lower cost of living, and the abolition of mandatory military service.

More than 160,000 people are expected to take part in the protests on October 31, 2026. According to Reuters and dpa, demonstrations are planned in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich, among other cities.

Protests Announced in Germany

The organizer is the German youth movement Gen Z regelt (“Generation Z Decides”), which was formed just a few weeks ago. They claim that the government is systematically ignoring the needs of young people by cutting public spending while simultaneously increasing the burden on them.

German authorities expect the demonstrations to be largely peaceful but are warning against provocations. According to the Ministry of the Interior, extremist forces are attempting to seize the initiative, and radical left-wing groups and foreign movements are actively calling for participation in the rallies.

At the same time, the organizers themselves insist that they advocate exclusively for peaceful protest and are categorically opposed to any violence. On their website, they stated that they do not want to see extremist groups or symbols that contradict the constitutional order at the demonstrations.

Due to the likelihood of clashes on the Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard in the German capital, store owners are boarding up their windows with wooden shields and shortening their business hours.

At the same time, the nationwide association of student representatives, BSK, has refused to coordinate its actions with the organizers of this protest. The organization acknowledges the protesters’ demands as justified but is preparing a separate demonstration for November 20.

A wave of student and school protests spread to a number of European countries. In particular, in France and Italy, similar youth demonstrations have already escalated into mass riots, vandalism, and looting of stores.
