Evacuation of Ukrainians
The evacuation of Ukrainians began back in February 2020, when Ukrainian citizens suspected of having coronavirus were evacuated from China.
Later, in August 2021, Ukrainians were taken out of Afghanistan when militants of the Islamist group "Taliban" launched an offensive in the country.
Since February 24, 2022, the evacuation of Ukrainians has been under way due to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. Millions of Ukrainian citizens left the occupied territories under Russian shelling.
Currently, the Ukrainian authorities announce urgent or mandatory evacuations from settlements that Russia is approaching and that are under shelling.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as of April 17, 2025, 6.917 million Ukrainians are abroad.
