Hantavirus
In early May, the cruise liner MV Hondius was quarantined due to an outbreak of hantavirus infection and the risk of an epidemic on board.
According to the WHO, several probable cases of infection, three deaths and one passenger in serious condition were recorded, which highlights hantavirus mortality and its possible consequences.
The source was not established, but hantavirus is usually transmitted by rodents, the main carriers of hantavirus, as well as through other routes of transmission.
