The "KyivPride-2017" Equality March will take place on June 18 in central Kyiv. It starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Bohdana Khmelnytskoho and Volodymyrska streets. This year the "KyivPride" route has been extended to more than one kilometre.
According to the organisers' estimates, the march will gather about five thousand participants. They will walk along Volodymyrska and Lva Tolstoho streets to Lva Tolstoho Square and the "Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho" metro station.
One of the march organisers, Zorian Kis, stressed that "KyivPride" is, first and foremost, a human rights event, so not only members of the LGBT community but also heterosexual people will take part in it.
The organisers are counting on assistance from law enforcement agencies in ensuring public order and the safety of the event's participants. Public order during the event will be maintained by six thousand law enforcement officers and about 50 security volunteers.
