Mojtaba Khamenei is the son of Ali Khamenei. The latter ruled Iran from 1989 to 2026.

Mojtaba Khamenei became Iran's ayatollah on March 8, 2026. This happened because of the killing of Ali Khamenei at the end of February 2026.
