Oleksandr Turchynov

Ukrainian politician and statesman. Secretary of the NSDC (since December 15, 2014). People's Deputy of Ukraine. Doctor of Economic Sciences, professor, member of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine (since 2007).

From February 22 to November 27, 2014 – Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Also, from February 23 to June 7, 2014 – Acting President of Ukraine.

In fact, during this period O. V. Turchynov combined the posts of head of Parliament (Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada), the function of presidential power (Acting President), military power (Supreme Commander-in-Chief), Chairman of the National Security and Defence Council, as well as head of government (in the formal status of coordinator of the Cabinet of Ministers until the approval of Arseniy Yatsenyuk's first government on February 27).

Thus, he can be regarded as the person who de jure concentrated the greatest state governing powers in the modern history of Ukraine.

On the day of the inauguration of the newly elected President Petro Poroshenko on June 7, 2014, Turchynov handed over presidential and military power to his successor.

On February 10, 2015, he directed the offensive of the ATO forces near Mariupol, when Ukrainian fighters liberated 5 settlements from the militants, including Shyrokyne. On February 12, the Minsk agreements were signed by President Poroshenko.
