Roman Sushchenko
Roman Sushchenko is a Ukrainian journalist who was illegally arrested and held on Russian territory from September 30, 2016. Sushchenko's whereabouts became known only two days after his detention, on Sunday, October 2, when Russian human rights activists arrived at the Moscow pre-trial detention center "Lefortovo" for a scheduled inspection of the conditions of detention.
On June 4, 2018, the Moscow City Court sentenced Roman Sushchenko to 12 years in a strict-regime colony. The aggressor accused the journalist of "espionage for Ukraine".
The journalist returned to Ukraine on September 7, 2019, as part of the "35 for 35" prisoner exchange.
