Shelling of a maternity hospital in Mariupol

On March 9, the occupiers resorted to an inhuman attack – they shelled a children's hospital and a maternity hospital in Mariupol. Every day the bombing of Mariupol becomes more and more brutal, and more and more innocent people are suffering in the city.

The shelling of the maternity hospital in Mariupol is a horrific Russian war crime

The occupiers bombed the maternity hospital in Mariupol deliberately, knowing that there would be pregnant women and newborn babies in the building. Although Russian propagandists try to lie on air and groundlessly claim that the maternity hospital had become a residence of “far-right nationalists”, the entire civilised world sees that the occupiers are committing genocide against Ukrainians.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov himself publicly admitted that the shelling of the maternity hospital in Mariupol was deliberate – the whole world heard his statement.

For this war crime (and countless others), Russia and its leadership will answer before the Hague tribunal – the court has already opened proceedings.

Shelling of the maternity hospital in Mariupol: consequences and victims

The hospital and the maternity hospital were destroyed to the ground by Russian shells – in front of the buildings that recently received patients there is now a huge crater from a Russian bomb, all the windows in the premises are broken, and the walls are critically damaged.

As a result of the shelling of the maternity hospital in Mariupol:

  • 17 people were injured – pregnant women and medics;

  • There are dead – 3 people did not survive the inhuman shelling. Among them was one child.

Now the whole city is in a humanitarian catastrophe – people have no electricity, no heat, no water. The shelling of the civilian population does not stop, and the Russian terrorists do not allow civilians to be evacuated.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly commented on the horrific bombing of Mariupol. He once again called on the Western community to close the sky or provide combat aircraft – as long as NATO and Europe delay, innocent people will die – women, men and children.

If the North Atlantic Alliance had made a strong-willed decision and closed the sky immediately after the request of the Ukrainian authorities and people, Ukraine would not have lost thousands of innocent lives.

The president appealed to the humanity of foreign partners and demanded that the torture of the Ukrainian people be stopped as soon as possible.
