Smoliy's Resignation

Yakiv Smolii resigned as Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, although he had previously stated that he intended to remain in office until the end of his term in 2025. He headed the National Bank in March 2018.

Smolii named systematic political pressure on the NBU leadership as the reason for his resignation.

If the resignation is approved, the duties of the head of the National Bank will be performed by his first deputy, Kateryna Rozhkova.
