Solar Eclipse
An astronomical phenomenon in which the Moon completely or partially covers the Sun from an observer on Earth. A solar eclipse is possible only during the new Moon, when the side of the Moon facing the Earth is not illuminated and the Moon itself is not visible.
The longest solar eclipse in recent years took place on August 21, 2017, and lasted 2 minutes 40 seconds.
It was best seen by residents of North America.
