SpaceX has yet to provide Ukraine with an explanation regarding the previous restrictions on the operation of Starlink and Starshield terminals. The U.S. government is in contact with Kyiv, but the cause of the temporary disruptions remains unclear.
A Ukrainian official told this to "Radio Liberty" correspondent Alex Raufoglu.

What information is available regarding the reasons for the U.S. restrictions?
Neither the U.S. side nor SpaceX representatives have provided any official explanation regarding the incident. According to the source, the U.S. government is currently in contact with Kyiv, “but so far, no one has explained what happened or what will happen next.”
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to speeds similar to those observed before the limits were imposed.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also confirmed the stability of the connection and noted that the speed exceeds 400 kilometers per hour.
Background on the Restrictions and Negotiations
The problem arose in mid-October 2026, when Starshield terminals suddenly began losing connection while traveling at speeds exceeding 160 kilometers per hour.
This significantly hampered the operation of Ukrainian interceptor drones, which are used to destroy Russian drones.
As previously reported on our website, the Ukrainian side suspected the involvement of officials in Washington of imposing technical limits. At the same time, the White House and the U.S. State Department denied issuing any orders to slow down the network.
We also previously reported that, due to these disruptions, Ukraine began exploring alternative satellite communication channels, particularly from companies such as Amazon and Eutelsat. Currently, official discussions are ongoing between Kyiv, the Pentagon, and SpaceX to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
