Strikes in Belarus
The nationwide strike began on Monday, August 10.
According to the activists' idea, the strike was supposed to stop the work of the country's main enterprises. In this way, the protesters wanted to protest against violence by the security forces.
Among the most active strikers are the workers of the Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant. It was here, on the first day of the protests, that riot police dispersed the protesters and even made arrests.
The largest strikes also took place at the Belarusian Steel Works in Zhlobin, BelAZ in Zhodzina, and Khimvolokno and Grodno Azot in Grodno.
