The Cheese War
A trade confrontation between Ukraine and Russia in the first half of 2012. It began as a result of the struggle for the Russian sales market and was also used as an instrument of economic pressure on Ukraine by Russia.
The pretext for the start of the Cheese War was a statement about the low quality of Ukrainian-made hard cheeses made by Russia's chief state sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko.
