What is known about the aircraft interception over Donald Trump’s residence
The incident occurred on October 24 at approximately 12:20 p.m. Eastern Time over Palm Beach, Florida.
An F-16 fighter jet intercepted a light civilian aircraft that had entered a temporary no-fly zone over the Mar-a-Lago estate, established by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
The military aircraft performed a standard maneuver to get the pilot’s attention. The pilot then established radio contact with the military, followed their instructions, and exited the restricted airspace.
If an aircraft is intercepted by NORAD aircraft, the pilot must immediately switch to radio frequency 121.5 or 243.0 MHz and turn around in the opposite direction.
The pilot must continue to follow instructions until further directions are received on one of these frequencies.
Upon landing, pilots who have violated flight restrictions may also be met by representatives of federal authorities. Legal measures may be taken against them.
As a reminder, the Mar-a-Lago is a luxurious estate in Palm Beach, Florida, owned by former U.S. President Donald Trump. It serves as his private residence and an exclusive club where he holds meetings with politicians, hosts foreign leaders, and organizes events. For this reason, the estate is often referred to as the “Winter White House.”
