The Situation Near Shumy
On September 9, the participants of the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas agreed on a joint inspection in the area of the village of Shumy with the participation of a coordinating representative of the OSCE.
The need for such an inspection arose because militant leader of ORDLO Denis Pushilin had earlier accused Ukraine of allegedly violating the ceasefire in the Shumy area. He therefore promised to shell Ukrainian positions. On September 10, the Ukrainian side canceled this inspection because Russia and representatives of occupied Donbas put forward new demands for it that grossly violate previous agreements.
On September 10, pro-Russian militants in Donbas opened fire with small arms in the Shumy area.
