The Vanguard of the Offensive
A campaign to recruit volunteers for assault operations in the liberation of the temporarily occupied territories.
The idea for the project came from the then Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Denys Monastyrskyi, but shortly before the campaign started he was killed in a plane crash in Brovary.
As part of the project, eight assault brigades were created:
- "Steel Border" – a brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine;
- "Chervona Kalyna" – being formed in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region;
- "Liut" (Fury) – a brigade of the National Police of Ukraine;
- "Rubizh" (Frontier) – aimed at reaching Ukraine's borders as quickly as possible;
- "Spartan" – whose motto is "The enemy breaks against us";
- "Kara-Dag" – will take part in the liberation of occupied Crimea;
- "Burelom" (Windfall) – a brigade for disposing of Russian soldiers;
- "Azov" – a brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
