Boris Johnson made such a categorical statement regarding this situation on the social media platform X.
What upset the politician?
He commented on Washington’s latest actions in the energy market and rejected any accusations against Kyiv.
Boris Johnson emphasized that the real cause of the economic problems and rising energy prices lies in entirely different global factors, not in the actions of the Ukrainian side.
“It’s disgusting that the U.S. is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and it’s downright ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the price spike, which clearly began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz,”
– Boris Johnson noted.
He also explained exactly how the world could return to normal trade. In his view, if there is a desire to bring Russian oil and gas back to the global market, the war must first be ended by guaranteeing the existence of a free, sovereign, and independent Ukraine.
And yet, the White House, by all accounts, is determined to force American drivers to finance Putin’s bloodbath,
he added.
As a reminder, on October 9, former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had held an “extremely successful conversation” with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and agreed on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the American and global markets.
According to Trump, Russia is to immediately supply more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel, another 500,000 metric tons in November, and an additional 1 million metric tons thereafter. In light of these agreements, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that, at the president’s direction, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) immediately issues a temporary general license has issued a regulation allowing the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the global market. This decision paves the way for a temporary easing of restrictions on trade in Russian fuel.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Criticized the U.S. Decision to allow the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the global market, calling it “an obvious weakness that plays into Russia’s hands.” He emphasized that Donald Trump’s agreements with Vladimir Putin were announced precisely when the Ukrainian delegation was in the U.S. for negotiations on ending the war. According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian delegation was used as a cover for agreements with the Kremlin, which is unfair and contrary to the principles of partnership.
