
Valeria Gontareva
Valeria Gontareva is a financier, banker and Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine since June 19, 2014. On April 10, 2017, she announced her resignation from the post.
Gontareva has worked in finance and banking since 1993. In particular, Gontareva structured deals to attract financing for the development of Petro Poroshenko's Roshen business in Russia.
On June 19, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada supported Gontareva's appointment as Governor of the NBU with 349 votes.
At the end of August 2019, Gontareva was hit by a car in London. She was hospitalized and underwent surgery. And in early September, her daughter-in-law's car was doused with gasoline and set on fire in central Kyiv.A little later, her family's house in the village of Horenychi near Kyiv was also burned down. The SBI searched Gontareva's Kyiv apartment.
