Vasyl Shklyar
Ukrainian writer and political figure. One of the most famous and most widely read contemporary Ukrainian writers. Some literary critics call his "Black Raven" "the father of the Ukrainian bestseller".
By decision of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, Shkliar was named a laureate of the 2011 Shevchenko Prize, but the writer refused to accept it in protest against the notorious Ukrainophobe Dmytro Tabachnyk holding the post of Minister of Education of Ukraine.
