Venice Commission

On December 10, the Venice Commission approved an opinion on the constitutional crisis in Ukraine. In it, the commission recommended that Ukraine change its legislation on the Constitutional Court. In particular, it advises providing for international training of judges on constitutional matters before their appointment, as well as making the process of declaring a legal provision unconstitutional somewhat more complicated. The latter provision stipulates that when judges have reached such a conclusion, they must request confirmation from the Grand Chamber at the request of the president or parliament.
