Yuriy Vilkul
Yuriy Vilkul was mayor of Kryvyi Rih (2010-2020) and secured the interests of oligarch Rinat Akhmetov in the region.Yuriy Vilkul won mayoral elections 3 times. In 2020, when his main rival was Dmytro Shevchyk, a representative of Servant of the People and at the same time of Rinat Akhmetov, Vilkul won in the 1st round but withdrew in the second on November 17, 2020.Vilkul is the oldest mayor in Ukraine and one of the most scandalous; together with his son Oleksandr, he turned Kryvyi Rih into a feudal fiefdom, placed his people in key positions and, thanks to his ties with Akhmetov, received an indulgence from the authorities and the status of being de facto untouchable.
