The head of the Slovak government spoke about his diplomatic plans before leaving for the European Union summit, according to SME.
Restoring Ties with Moscow
According to Fico, he will also meet with Russian representatives.
To avoid any surprises, a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission with the Russian Federation will also take place on the 25th,
the Slovak prime minister announced.
Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár had already signaled the intention to resume the work of the joint commission with Russia back in the summer.
Although Fico himself did not disclose details of the upcoming discussions, it is known that in August, Blanár held a preparatory online meeting with Russian Minister of Science Valery Falkov. It is worth noting that the Russian official is currently on the EU sanctions list.
Previous Statements by the Slovak Prime Minister
Robert Fico recently made a series of controversial statements regarding the war. In particular, he emphasized that he does not want Slovakia to be drawn into a military conflict under Article 5 of the NATO treaty.
In addition, the politician criticized Western support for Ukraine, claiming that it could trigger a war between NATO and Russia.
