Trump spoke about this while answering questions from reporters.
What did the American leader say about the peace agreement and the envoys’ trip to Moscow?
According to reports, Trump refrained from making specific comments regarding the possible trip by Kushner and Witkoff to the Russian capital. At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian side is seeking to reach an agreement, while Zelenskyy, for some reason, is refusing to take this step.
According to Trump, it would have been much more beneficial for Ukraine to reach an agreement two years ago. Recalling a conversation with Putin, he claims that Putin “would very much like to resolve the situation.”
Well, I think Russia would like to reach an agreement. But, as I’ve already said, this is something that could have been resolved many times, but for some reason, Zelenskyy doesn’t want to reach an agreement. And if you look at the statistics, you know, the point is that there are a million more soldiers on one side than on the other,
– the U.S. president noted.
Incidentally, this isn’t Trump’s only shocking statement in recent days. The U.S. leader also spoke about the need for a change in leadership in Ukraine. According to him, it’s time to elect a new president.
It should be noted that talks between Ukrainian and American delegations, with the participation of allies from the European Union, took place in Miami a few days ago.
Representatives from the U.S., Ukraine, Europe, and NATO held six hours of talks to develop a joint plan to end the war and present it to Russia before winter sets in. The parties discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, post-war economic recovery, EU accession, and possible territorial compromises. At the same time, Kyiv insists on the return of territories seized by Russia.
It is known that the negotiations on resolving the situation in Ukraine ended early, and Ukrainian representatives are already returning home after meeting with Witkoff and Kushner. It was previously reported that the meeting was supposed to last two days; however, according to media reports, it ended after Trump announced a diesel deal with Russia.
Despite Trump’s statements about Putin’s readiness to strike a deal, the Kremlin is not showing such optimism regarding the peace talks. During a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia will continue its war against Ukraine until all of its goals are achieved, but is ready to talk if Kyiv makes territorial concessions.
According to the Russian dictator’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, Putin also accused Ukraine of allegedly attempting to disrupt the elections in Russia and announced that Russian troops were advancing on the front lines.
