In Denys Shmyhal's government, Alexey Sobolev was deputy to Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko. After her appointment as prime minister, he headed the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, which was merged with two other ministries – agrarian policy and natural resources.
