
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
Ukrainian politician, economist and lawyer. Prime Minister of Ukraine from February 27, 2014 to April 14, 2016 (acting from April 12, 2016). The first Greek Catholic Prime Minister of Ukraine.
He served as Minister of Economy from 2005 to 2006, then was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2007 and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada from 2007 to 2008. From 2009 to 2012, he led the "Front for Change" political party.
From June to December 2012, he headed the council of the "United Opposition".
From December 11, 2012 to February 28, 2014, he was head of the All-Ukrainian Union "Batkivshchyna" faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. On February 27, 2014, he was appointed Prime Minister of Ukraine.
During Arseniy Yatsenyuk's two years as head of government, the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was restored and the National Guard of Ukraine was created.
Security and defence spending was ensured at the level of 5.06% of GDP (114.5 billion hryvnias in 2016). Defence spending in 2015 (96 billion hryvnias) grew by 50% compared to 2014.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk is running for President of Ukraine in the elections to be held on March 31, 2019.
