Filaret
Filaret is a Ukrainian bishop, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate from 1995 to 2018.
The Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine after the Unification Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Churches on December 15, 2018. Filaret was left as "honorary patriarch".
However, Filaret did not recognise the dissolution of the Kyiv Patriarchate and therefore came into conflict with Epiphanius – the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Filaret died on March 20, 2026.
