Ihor Mazur
In Poland, a volunteer, veteran of the war in Donbas and employee of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Ihor Mazur (call sign "Topolia"), was detained.
He was supposed to attend an official event at the invitation of the Polish side, but border guards detained him at Russia's request via Interpol.
Later, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm Małgorzata Gosiewska stated that Mazur's detention was only Poland's technical fulfilment of its international obligations and that the Ukrainian "became a victim of the actions of the eastern neighbours" who had entered him into the Interpol database.
At first, none of the Ukrainian diplomatic representatives in Poland were allowed to see Mazur. But later the Consul of Ukraine in Lublin, Yurii Kucheriavyi, did meet with him.
According to the latter, the details of the case are unknown to the consuls, and the question of the Ukrainian's extradition to the Russian Federation will be decided by a Polish court.
