Islamic State

This is a state that has adopted Islam and Sharia law as the basis of its political institutions and laws.

Today, states with such a system include Afghanistan, Yemen, Iran, Mauritania, Oman, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

In addition, more than ten states in Muslim-majority countries have established Islam as the state religion, but they are not fully Islamic states.
