Kupyansk

Kupiansk is a city in Ukraine, the administrative center of the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region. On February 27, 2022, Kupiansk was temporarily occupied by Russia. On September 10, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the city from the Russian occupiers.

In November 2024, the occupiers made attempts to break through in the Kupiansk direction. An enemy assault group in vehicles broke into Kupiansk itself, where it was destroyed by the Defense Forces.

On September 12, 2025, DeepState analysts stated that the Russians were trying to enter Kupiansk through a gas pipe. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine says that the pipeline exit through which the Russians entered is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of the city military administration, Andrii Kanashevych, said that fighting is ongoing on the outskirts of Kupiansk.

As of May 2026, Russia continues its attempts to occupy Kupiansk. In particular, it is trying to enter the city through the neighboring village of Holubivka.
