Mexico

Mexico is a country in the southern part of North America that borders the USA. 

Mexico is known for its drug cartels. As of early 2026, one of the most prominent was the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, whose leader was the top drug lord El Mencho. 

On February 22, 2026, federal security forces carried out a large-scale operation to eliminate El Mencho in the municipality of Tapalpa, Jalisco state. 

After the killing, El Mencho's people began riots. In particular, clashes between them and the Mexican Armed Forces have been reported. 

Unrest began in at least 5 regions of the country. It is known that members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel are trying to stop the operation. The authorities in Jalisco state introduced a state of emergency.
