Odessa – Brody
An oil pipeline built between the city of Odesa and the town of Brody.
The pipeline is supposed to be used for the transit of Caspian oil to Central Europe, bypassing the territory of Russia, with the prospect of reaching the ports of the Baltic Sea.
The pipeline was built during 1996-2001. After construction was completed, the pipeline was not used for three years, after which a decision was made to use it in reverse mode.
Oil from the Druzhba pipeline is pumped to the terminals of the Ukrainian port of Pivdennyi.
In September 2011, the Odesa – Brody – Plock project was halted by the Polish National Security Council. President Bronislaw Komorowski later announced that he would recommend that the government analyse the decisions concerning Poland's participation in this project.
