The fifth President of Ukraine (2014-2019), owner of the "Roshen" corporation, the news channel "Channel 5" and several car and bus factories.
Born in 1965 in Bolhrad, Odesa region.
People’s Deputy of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 9th convocations, ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs, ex-Minister of Economic Development and Trade. Former member of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united), led by Viktor Medvedchuk, the "Party of Regions" and Viktor Yushchenko’s "Our Ukraine" party.
In the 2014 presidential elections, he received 54.7 percent of the vote, winning in the first round.
In the 2019 presidential elections, he lost to Volodymyr Zelenskyy with 24% support.
He became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation, heading the list of the "European Solidarity" party, formerly called the "Petro Poroshenko Bloc".
As of October 2019, there were at least 13 criminal proceedings in which the name of the former president appears.
