Protests in Abkhazia

Mass protests continue in Abkhazia over the so-called presidential elections held in the region back in August 2019. They were won by Raul Khajimba, for whom 47.39% of voters cast their ballots.

The protesters insist: in this situation, the law provides for a candidate's victory if he receives 50 + 1% of the votes. That is why they demand that the election results in the region be declared illegitimate.
