Referendum in Crimea
An illegitimate referendum on the status of Crimea held on March 16, 2014. It was called on February 27 by the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea; it was initially scheduled for May 25, then the date was moved to March 30, and later to March 16.
The corresponding resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea refers to an "all-Crimean referendum". Two questions were put to the referendum: on restoring the 1992 constitution of Crimea and on Crimea joining Russia.
The UN, the CIS, the EU and the OSCE did not send official observers. In view of this, representatives of these organizations do not recognize the "referendum" held.
